Optically it's been described as good rather than spectacular — reviewers note the resolving power isn't quite as sharp as some competitors — but the appeal was never about chasing the sharpest wide prime available. It's about a lens that matches the size, speed, and weather sealing of the 23mm, 35mm, and 50mm already sitting in a Fujifilm kit, so nothing has to be left behind for a day trip.
