"Tsuyosa" means strength in Japanese, and Citizen built the collection around a design language that had mostly disappeared from affordable watchmaking: an integrated bracelet flowing directly into a faceted case, a look straight out of 1970s sports-watch design that reviewers describe as equally at home on a yacht or behind the wheel of a vintage sports car. Since debuting in July 2022, it's become one of the most talked-about entry points into mechanical watches under $500.
Inside the NJ0151-88M sits Citizen's automatic Miyota 8210 movement, visible through a display caseback that lets the mechanics do some of the talking. A 40mm case keeps the proportions wearable, while the integrated bracelet design — normally reserved for far pricier watches — is exactly what's earned the line its reputation as honest value: real mechanical engineering wrapped in a design that costs a fraction of what similar silhouettes command elsewhere.
