G-Shock's shock resistance story is well known, but the mud-resistant sub-lineage has its own quieter history. It started in 1985 with the DW-5500 — sometimes called "G-Shock II" — which fans nicknamed for its dust and mud sealing years before Casio made it an official product category. That informal nickname eventually became Mudman, and later Mudmaster, as Casio formalized the concept into the broader "Master of G" family alongside the dive-focused Frogman and jungle-rated Rangeman.
The GWG-100-1AJF carries that lineage forward with a modern spec sheet: radio-controlled time sync from six stations worldwide, solar charging, 20 bar water resistance, and a case built specifically to keep grit and sand out of the button mechanisms — the same core problem the original DW-5500 was built to solve four decades earlier.
